Vegetable and Salad Oils, Margarines and Shortening

We use oils in almost all of our cooked foods and it’s an ingredient in virtually every processed food on your shelves. It’s a common feature in our homes, but even vegetable oil is bad for you and margarines and shortening are even worse.
 
The downfall of these common ingredients is their high levels of Omega-6 fat, which is a common indicator of a lack of Omega-3 fat. This imbalance of proper fat leads to a highly increased inflammation level, which as we’ve covered before, leads to heart disease, cancer and possibly even autoimmune diseases.
 
It’s in your best interest to avoid these cooking oils and increase your intake of omega-3 from foods such as fatty fish.
