Thursday, July 19th, 2012
Aging spots are generally non-cancerous lumps caused by prolonged exposure to the sun. They are harmless, but can be easily prevented by taking the proper precautions to protect your skin from the sun. It's as simple as wearing sunscreen when out in the sun and avoiding the sun when possible.

All it takes is a little prevention!

Eat Lots of Sugar? Expect to Age Your Skin Faster
Thursday, July 12th, 2012
Everyone knows that sugar isn’t the healthiest for your body, weight, or skin, but new studies have proven that sugar will even prematurely age your skin. Even as little as a spoonful of sugar (there’s more in most people’s morning coffee, not to mention soda pop) can set your skin forward several years.

A recent study by a university in the Netherlands examined the difference in consuming sugar or sugar-like foods (often high-carb foods) and the various glucose levels after a meal. The study set 60 independent assessors to determine the age of the volunteers.

The average difference between the group who had the lowest level and the group with the highest level (diabetics excluded) was a whole year of perceived age. The difference between the lowest group and the diabetics was a whole year and 7 months. Keep the sugar under control and you’ll be healthier AND younger looking. Can’t argue with that!

How UVA Rays From the Sun Can Age Your Skin
Tuesday, July 10th, 2012
Never before have we seen a stronger example or reason to protect your skin from the sun’s dangerous rays. The New England Journal of Medicine recently posted this photo of a 69-year old man who drove a delivery truck for 25 years, and received almost all of his sun from the driver’s side window. The effects are quite obvious, with the side of his face that faced the window markedly pockmarked and aged.

Sulfite sensitivity and our products
Thursday, July 5th, 2012
Sulfite is an artificial salt that is used as a preservative, antioxidant, and straightening agent in many foods and makeup products. However, many people have a sensitivity to this product that makes it difficult to use many products.

Luckily, our Laskin products are all sulfite-free in addition to being paraben–free. Rest assured knowing that our products are safe!
